Members of a self directed activity work independently and work towards both personal and lesson goals. The interesting activities, clear expectations and criteria for success shared by the teacher collaborate together so students can use their talent and experience to contribute to everybody's common goal. There is a specific performance objective that the motivated student works towards to, and the teacher just coaches and monitors the class.
This blog has been created to post reflections about the technology training I am attending during this 2010-2011 school year.

Project Management Strategies for Teachers and Learners
Chapter 5
Teachers need to manage the 21st century skills to be able to come up with a very engaging project for students. We need to think about the project to be ale to plan accordingly and consider the skills that we want our students to explore and be able to master. Along with this, teachers need to gather resources and everything they will need to make sure students' final product is a complete success. A criteria for success will need to be shared and visually posted so students can use it as checklist and manage their time appropriately.

Strategies for Discovery Chapter 4th
Students want to be exposed in the classroom to all the technology they are seeing out there. Now a days technology is playing a great positive and motivator role in real life so we, teachers, need to bring what's new out there and implement it in our daily instructional goals so we could have more students engagement and more active learners.

3rd Session
Even though I could not finish or save the project I was working on(very frustrating), I feel that it was a very productive training day. I got to understand and play with different categories of technological tools. David's invention was very creative and I will see how I can innovate it to use in my classroom.

Imagining the Possibilities-Chapter 3
It is very important that we as teachers plan classes and design projects that are going to make students think outside the box and stretch their thinking muscles. Also, we should have high expectations set at all times so students know what we expect from them. When students are given a task, they need to be able to analyze in depth as well as evaluate and create. It is here when they can self-monitor their own thinking and use their interpersonal skills to come up with a high product since they are being prepared for the 21st century real world.

Second Day Training
It was very interesting to be able to create a blog. I am actually understanding and using the 21st century tools for success. I wish we could have more time to actually work and practice on this during training time.
Thank you Russell.
Thank you Russell.
First half day technology training session
It feels great to have taken the first step to start using more technology during my everyday instruction.
I want to get the most of this training which would not only benefit me but my students as well.
